From 7 a.m. until 2 a.m. on a Saturday, one short stretch of Union Turnpike near Lakeville Road always has at least one kitchen open. That happened on purpose. The 10,441-square-foot strip at 271-02 Union Turnpike has been rebranded as New Hyde Park Place. Its owner, BenArt Realty, has filled it with food businesses chosen with a specific customer in mind: the staff of the large medical campuses a few blocks away.
Long Island Business News reported in September 2026 that the property draws staff from Northwell Health's Cohen Children's Medical Center, Long Island Jewish Medical Center and Parker Jewish Institute, as well as from Ronald McDonald House Long Island. Hospitals don't run on a nine-to-five schedule, so a block built for them doesn't either. That's the main reason this corner now has the longest daily food schedule in New Hyde Park, and everyone nearby gets to use it.
The strip used to hold a mix of ordinary neighborhood shops. Over the last few years, retail broker Jason Sobel of RIPCO Real Estate's Woodbury office has brought in national, regional and Long Island-based food businesses: Tous Les Jours, Bango Bowls, Guac Shop and Buffalo Wild Wings GO. BenArt has also put money into the property itself, including a new façade and upgrades to the 40-space parking lot.
Sobel described the approach to LIBN this way:
"The ownership has been very thoughtful about creating the right tenant mix rather than simply filling space."
You can see that mix in the posted hours. Each tenant covers a different part of the day, and together they cover almost all of it.
| Business | Address | Posted hours |
|---|---|---|
| Tous Les Jours | 271-02 Union Tpke. | 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily |
| Bango Bowls | 271-16 Union Tpke. | 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily |
| Soy or Spicy | 271-06 Union Tpke. | Midmorning to about 9:30 p.m., per delivery listings |
| Guac Shop | 271-18 Union Tpke. | 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. weekdays, 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. weekends |
| Buffalo Wild Wings GO | 271-20 Union Tpke. | 10:30 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday, until 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday |
Hours change, so check with each business before a late-night run.
Tous Les Jours opens the day. It's a bakery-café selling French-Asian-inspired breads, cakes, pastries and breakfast sandwiches, along with coffee, smoothies and tea. You can order ahead online for pickup or delivery. At 7 a.m., it's the only place on the block serving.
Buffalo Wild Wings GO closes the day. This isn't the full sports-bar version of the chain. The company describes it as a wings-focused location built for quick pickup and delivery. It stays open until midnight Sunday through Thursday and until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. That makes it the latest kitchen in the table by several hours, and the only one serving past 10 p.m.
In the middle of the day, the block has more choices. Bango Bowls opened here in 2023 as a full-service location. It sells açaí bowls, smoothies, poke, grain bowls, salads and wraps. Guac Shop serves Mexican fast-casual food like tacos, burrito bowls, salads and quesadillas, with pickup and delivery through its own site.
The newest restaurant on the block shows how the strategy works. Soy or Spicy, a Korean-style chicken spot, opened in August in a 1,000-square-foot space. It's owned by the franchisee who runs the Tous Les Jours next door. So an operator who already knew this block's customers added a second concept a few doors from the first.
The menu is built around Korean rice dishes, including soy- or spicy-chicken cupbap and omu rice, plus dosirak lunch boxes, chicken sticks and tteokbokki. Ordering through its current listings is set up for pickup and delivery. A dosirak is a packed lunch box, which suits a customer on a break between shifts, and it works just as well for a weeknight dinner at home.
Two parts of the strip are still unfinished. Redefine Meals has signed a lease for another 1,000-square-foot space at New Hyde Park Place. As of LIBN's September 1 report, that was a signed lease, not an open restaurant, and the report gave no opening date.
The largest remaining space is a 2,000-square-foot restaurant unit that used to be Vietnamese Kitchen & Bar. Sobel and RIPCO colleague Sydney Schmitt are marketing it now. It's twice the size of the two newest leases. That makes it the one space that could hold a bigger sit-down restaurant, which would round out a block that now leans mostly toward counter service and takeout.
The other big food opening of the summer went in a different direction. Three Sprinkles Bake Shop held its grand opening at 775 Hillside Ave. on Friday, July 10. The owners, Michelle Ciofalo and Nicole Zorbaci, met as teenagers working at Gourmet Bake Shop, where they frosted cakes and filled pastry cases. Years later, they came back to the same Hillside Avenue bakery as its owners.
Ciofalo, 36, of Lynbrook, worked at the bakery for 11 years. She then stepped away to raise her family and kept baking for private clients from home. She told the Long Island Press: "I always knew I wanted to own a bakery, but owning this one was beyond my wildest dreams."
The Union Turnpike strip was designed from scratch around a new customer. Three Sprinkles is about continuity. According to the Long Island Press profile, the owners brought back the shop's breads and rolls, apple horseshoes, cheese crumb rings and classic cakes, and added sourdough, rainbow chocolate-chip cookies and sprinkle cakes. If you remember the old pastry case, a lot of it is back. We couldn't confirm current hours for this post, so call before planning a morning stop around them.
NAYA held its ribbon cutting at 1624 Marcus Ave. on July 15 with the Greater New Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce. The brand describes itself as Middle Eastern fast-casual built on Lebanese family recipes. You build bowls, rolls and salads with unlimited toppings, and chicken shawarma and falafel are on the menu.
NAYA fills a gap the Union Turnpike strip doesn't. Its location page lists indoor seating along with pickup, delivery and catering, and it's open 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day. If you want to sit down with a bowl at noon on a Sunday without heading to the hospital end of town, Marcus Avenue now has a place for it.
These openings also fit with a few dates already on the October calendar:
Between July and September 2026, New Hyde Park gained a revived Hillside Avenue bakery, a Lebanese fast-casual spot with seats on Marcus Avenue, and a Korean rice counter on a Union Turnpike block that now serves food for 19 hours on weekends.
